Blog Entry: Get a Pre-Season Tune Up   One of the best things you can do is take your boat to the local Marina for a pre-season tune up.   If for some reason you suspect there might be something wrong with your engine block, they will happily conduct a compression test for you. Wash your Boat   Over the course of the summer, your boat will build up a scum line and the hull will get filthy from everyday use.   Make sure you power wash the hull of your boat to get that deep down dirt and grime off.   Feel free to even wash the interior if you like! Check your Lighting System   If you plan on embarking on a full speed, midnight Poker Run, be sure all of your boats lights are functioning properly. Tighten your Wakeboard Tower   It is essential to double check the bolts on your wakeboard tower and make sure everything is tightened up to prevent cracking of the gel-coat.   You can even take it a step further and weld any weak joints you find… Keep Proper Safety Equipment Onboard   Always keep the proper required safety equipment on your boat.   If the lake police happen to drive by, you can proudly hold up your life vests to show that you’re a law abiding boater.   Always have a Bailing Device   It’s important to keep a proper bailing device onboard.   Especially when you have 4,000 lbs loaded into your 17ft inboard/outboard and those X-80 rollers come by! Double-Check your Trailer   Always double-check that your winch cable is functioning and connected properly.   Slowly back your boat down the ramp and release the cable – just make sure the boat is in the water first. Practice your Docking   If you are new to boating, it’s advisable to practice docking your boat.   Boats are heavy and can carry their momentum. Inspect your Dock and Boat Lift   Check your dock and your boat lift to be sure there has been no ice damage over the winter.   Then you can happily lower your baby into the water for the new season! Happy Boating!
