Anyone else here doing it or just me?? Even on my lake, I'm only the 2nd or 3rd guy going strapless!

I do somw, but not as much as I would like.  Usually thw water is just choppy enough to make skating more work than play.

I do when I can but wakeboarding comes first and wakeskating is extra.  Not many people ride on my lake and I think if most of them saw a wakeskate they would think it's something I just came up with myself and started riding a piece of wood.  Most people are pretty clueless about wakeskating or that it even exists.

wakeskating is fun, but i'd rather be strapped in.

having said that, i believe wakeskating is the future and wakeboarding (hurts me to say this) is doomed.

Between gas prices (adding ballast doesn't help on fuel economy), wakeboard boat prices, and the exclusivity of finding good water / riding conditions - it gets more and more difficult each year for new people to be introduced to the sport.  I feel as though the popularity of wakeboarding has hit a plateau - it's downhill from here.

Wakeskating, on the other hand, is more main stream.  You can do it behind a pontoon boat (i have and it's just as fun), off a jet ski, or basically in a ditch on the side of the road.  Winches have opened up new riding locations that previously were thought impossible.  yes, wakeskating is the future.

i do a little wakeskating just i suck at it... not that im very good at wakeboarding

i think wakeskating will only get bigger but i dont think wakeboarding has hit a plateau i think it will continue to grow and that will just drive people to find there own secret spot. wakeskating will never take wakeboarding over in regular behind wake boat riding because of the air you can get on a wakeboard and the flips etc. wakeskating will grow alot though in winch riding and stuff like that.

I agree with the price of gas and the jet ski is much more feasible at the moment.
As far progression, I feel wakeboarding will always have an edge as being strapped gives you much more ability to perform inverts but my balls got tired of that, not including the broken nose I recieved from too much compression upon landing. Now I'm no pro but hitting my first kickflip this past Friday was extremely close to being orgasmic. What a rush! :) That was literally a summer and this spring in the making. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I gave up last summer just because I was pissed at falling and drinking lake water. After all, I have to reserve room for VODKA boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
