I love the relocation of the light! What did you have to get to make that change?

Needed a 3/4" 6 point thin walled socket to get the tow point off. The rest of the dis-assembly is straight forward and obvious phillipshead screws:

Once apart, I had to drill straight down though the hollow post into the tower with a 1/8" drillbit though ~2" of aluminum for the wires. The metal cap on the tower flips over and I drilled some holes to mount the light to it. Dremel'd the bottom cone of the plastic light fixture off and glued the light socket back in place with some epoxy:

The cap fits snug enough on the tower, but I may apply some sort of glue once Im comfortable that its all permanent.

BTW - Mastercraft has a patent on the tow hook with the built in light. That why Axis doesnt build them this way from the factory.

Did you have to move the light for clearance purposes? Have you had a chance to test the release?

Yes, had to move it for clearance but it was also already on my wishlist/to do list to streamline the appearance.

Yes, tested the release surfing and wakeboarding. It popped out pulling up a big guy when set at 200lb, but not at 300lb. 800lb is the max setting and approximately what it takes to pull and adult though the water. The max pull indicator shows 250lb wake-boarding so far. Spins smoothly and no flex. Riders can not perceive that its there, except the rope is ~6" longer.

I feel much more comfortable now; doing surf 360's with the rope, watching my 5yo surf, and flips on the skyski. Seeing others loop the surf rope always made me cringe. Too many ugly pics on the wakeworld forum of rope injuries.

I've never heard of this, but thank you. I've got a friend who likes to coil up the rope when surfing. Need to check into it. My kids are only learning to ski, and I've got a boom installed for that, but I can see this being a nice to have.

what did you do with the wires? did you have to cut and splice? where you able to feed them threw the tower?

thanks for the pics and info. I was looking into streamlining that tow point and yours looks simple and clean

I drilled a hole down the threaded post into the tower. Fished the light wires down the post, into the tower, and out the same hole as the original wire on the front of the tower. Got lucky and it only too a few tries. Spliced the wires together w/solder and tucked them back into the tower.
