Yea, I have the heater, but it was mounted up pretty high. The biggest trouble was one of the heater vents and a long plastic tube housing that I had to be aware of. The area is huge under the dash. If you built a intricate box, you can get a lot of sq. footage under there. The floor is also pretty flat in there.

I built the box using screws and wood glue, applied resin, and also siliconed the seams, so it's completely air tight.

The sound is a huge improvement. It went from basically inaudible to actually hearing bass.

I knew the sub was just an entry level sub, with dual 4ohm voice coils. I wired it to 2ohms. The stock amp is 2ohm stable at 350watts rms, so I wasn't expecting heart pounding bass. I would say it's a perfect upgrade to the factory setup.

I also only used 1/2" MDF because that sub isn't capable of flexing the enclosure and with the box being only 17x17x8, it is already very rigid.

Here is an A20 our stereo installer (Dennis of Liquid Trends) just finished up for a customer. The boat had Sound Pack 1 and they wanted a simple upgrade more geared for surfing.

Everything is Exile Audio and it sounds great

How much improvement do you think it gave over the stock setup?

Good question. Was it worth the time to build everything for what you get in return?

Oh yes, it was a huge improvement over the stock setup. I think it ended up being about $50 is supplies and a few hours of my time. It was definitely well worth it.

I think I started building the box at 2pm and had it all finished, buttoned up, and stereo playing at 6pm. I really don't see how I could go wrong. It was only $50 and was a nice little hobby on my day off. The best part is, it still looks completely factory.

Are you getting and rattle or vibration noise from the factory panel where your sub box fits up snug to it?

Surprisingly, no. I mean if I crank the sub, other things under the dash will vibrate, but nothing between the box and plastic kick panel. You have to figure, I used 4 counter sunk screws to attach the sub box to the plastic kick panel. Those were offset from the sub screw holes. Then I used 8 longer sub screws to add even more strength.

Did you put anything under the box for support or is it hanging from the plastic panel?

I was just about to ask the same thing. Also, does it make it a lot tougher to get to your heater core to winterized it?

Sorry for all the questions. I just trying to ask everything I can think fr before I tackle this too. I dot want to regret it later if its a pain in the ass to do and undo a few times a year for not a lot of return in added bass. If its worth the extra effort to build the enclosure and undo everything to get to the heater core, I'm def doing it.
