When I replaced the key ignition switch I cut the purple wire and put a spade connector on it. Moved it to the Acc rocker switch. The switch covers pop off with some wiggle and pulling (** sometimes the switch covers will break **). Pretty easy mod. This is the only pic I have.

So purple wire from ignition to toggle switch. Then you ran a ground and power wire to starting battery? Did you use a fuse on the power wire?

Matt you should have a accessory switch that is in that spot he put the switch in from why I remember. I am not around my boat. The switch can be swapped for a audio switch or use the accessory switch. It should also have a fused hot wire going to it as mine does. Take the output which should be a empty pin and hook it up to the red wire of your radio which is the accessory/switch wire. Make sure you cut the red wire away from the boat harness and cap the boat side off. The rocker switch wire will go the the radio side red wire. This is probly the most simple mod.

If you have to run power and a ground to the switch run a hot wire from breaker panel or a fused wire from battery. You can pull ground from another switch so the light functions on the switch.

Exactly. Just move the positive Acc power wire from the key switch to the existing toggle switch. All the wires on the key switch (except black) are +. No need to change anything on the ground or fuses for the radio, just moving the power feed. The toggle switch was already powered with a dedicated circuit breaker.

Last week, all I did was change the face of the existing toggle switch from acc to a music note.

The accessory switch should be prewired. This image shows what it'll be like if not in use. If you squeeze the tabs from behind it isn't too hard to pull the switch out.

For anyone else doing this it's worthwhile to verify which wire is for the radio. In my case (2009) purple / black was connected to the guages, ECM, etc and it was the blue / white that was powering the radio. I added a short section of wire to connect to the switch. This is the setup before I wrapped the exposed connectors at both ends.
